I had to rewrite the press release that the company gave me. I felt sort of bad critiquing someone else’s work, but as this is the first piece of written material most editors are going to see from me, I’d like for it to convey certain things about the book. Yes, it’s a mystery and there are definite conventions that go with it. Yes, it’s also a romance on the side and has all of that. But it’s also very steamy and fast-paced. Pulpy. It’s the page-turner you read over stormy weekend. It’s fun and erotic with snappy dialog and colorful characters. I want everyone who reads it to have as much malicious and salacious fun as I had writing it.
So, yeah, needed to perk up the press release a bit.
